The MāoriLand Court is conducting an
inquiry to establish the successors to SILNA lands pursuant to Section 29, Te Ture Whenua Māori Act 1993 in accordance
with an application filled by the Minister of Māori Affairs, currently under application A20180009373.
While a number of the sessions were not directly relevant to our work in the MāoriLand Court, all sessions were interesting and had aspects which made you think about the work we do and how we do our work.

Te Kooti Whenua Māori – MāoriLand Court (MLC) is the
New Zealand Court that hears matters relating to Māoriland.
Of the approximately 2.3 million ownership interests in Māoriland, anecdotal evidence indicates that about half of these interests are held by deceased persons; many landinterests are owned by the same person under multiple names; and many owners live far from their land and, in some cases, do not know they are owners of Māoriland at all.

a fuller understanding of current Māoriland
matters.
You will also need to be clear what the plan is for building on
the land, including who the housing is for.

Use this form when exchanging some or all of your interests in MāoriLand by sale or gift with some or all of the MāoriLandinterests of a different owner in a different block of MāoriLand.
A mortgage or loan may be acquired by:
the sole owner of a Māoriland block
all the owners of a Māoriland block acting together
the trustees of a Māoriland block who are empowered to raise finance against the block, or
a Māori Incorporation which holds Māoriland.
