Te Kooti Whenua Māori – MāoriLandCourt (MLC) is the
New Zealand Court that hears matters relating toMāoriland.
In your application you’ll need to provide:
written consents of thetrustees
written consents of the beneficiaries
evidence of a properly notified meeting(s) held to terminate the trust, and
a schedule of landto be removed from the trust and to who those shares will be transferred

The duty to be active includes the requirement that a Trustee apply totheMāoriLandCourt for
directions without delay when they notice that one or more of the other Trustees has or is going
to commit a breach of trust.
If there is no
quorum, the meeting may not proceed.

3.21 Thetrustees must advise theMaoriLandCourt of the names of thetrustees elected at any general meeting.
3.22 The election of trustees is subject to confirmation by theMaoriLandCourt.

In the past the Housing Corporation, and its replacement Housing New Zealand, have been prepared to finance the building of dwellings on Māoriland by taking security over the house, provided that the borrower can obtain a licence to occupy from the owners or trustees, where theland is held in trust, for a term of at least 21 years.
