The reforms enacted in the Burial and Cremation Act 1964 retained this basic structure but further entrenched the role of local authorities by extinguishing the right of other entities, such as trusts, to open new public cemeteries.
We worked for the back office of large British bank based in Hong Kong. This was during the run up to the hand back of Hong Kong to the People’s Republic of China, and our job was to establish and administer trust structures to receive the assets of wealthy Chinese prior to their migration to either Canada or Australia.
Prior to its integration into the Department for Courts
and Ministry of Justice, the Māori Land Court was
part of a section within the Department of Māori
Affairs (often referred to as the court section).
This practice note applies to the appointment, engagement and payment of the fees of
any lawyer1 per ss 70(3), 98(3) and 98(9)(c) of Te Ture Whenua Māori Act 1993 (Act) out
of the Māori Land Court Special Aid Fund (Special Aid Fund).
