Whānau who agree to enter mediation to resolve disputes can do so out of court, pay no filing fee and can practice the tikanga of your whānau and hapū in that mediation.
ADDRESSING GRIEVANCES
6.1 If any Trustee or Beneficiary is aggrieved by a decision, action or omission of the
Trustees ("Applicant"), that person may first give written notice of the grievance to the
Trustees.
6.2 If the Applicant's grievance is not satisfactorily addressed within a reasonable period of
time, the Applicant may in writing, notify the Trustees of his or her intention to have his
or her grievance referred to a general meeting of the Beneficiaries....

The Landowner(s), the Occupier and any
other interested party will meet within 14 days of any notification and jointly
discus how the issue is to be resolved.
(d) The Occupier shall pay the Consideration (if any is specified in the Third
Schedule) to the Landowner(s).

• the original death certificate or a copy
• the original will14 or a certified copy of the will
• the original grant of administration, if any, or a certified
copy
• the applicationfee (the amount is noted on the form).
If you file an application to the Māori Land Court or the Māori Appellate Court on or after 1 July 2026 , you will notice an increase in the fee you need to pay:
