Not all of the trustees of the ahu whenua trusts have been contacted and further work is needed in that respect.
For example, one ahu whenua trust has over 8,000 beneficial owners for an area of land less than 200 hectares with income of less than $10,000.00 per annum.
Section 218 of Te Ture Whēnua Māori Act 1993 contains a list of Māori community purposes to which income from the whānau trust may be applied if provision is made in the trust order.
