Legislative changes affecting incorporations Effective from Waitangi Day, 6 February 2021 Register of interest and annual declaration Māori incorporations must establish and maintain an interests register for the Māori land held by the incorporation. The register will record, for each member of the management committee: details of member’s interest in the Māori freehold land incorporated; the dealings in the interests by the member; and declarations made by members.
Te Rā Tū, the new Tairāwhiti Māori Land Court opened in November, with some 100 people gathering for the official event.
Currently Aotearoa New Zealand has 11 women judges of Māori ancestry who serve on the High Court, District Court and Māori Land Court. That figure represents about 4.8% of the judiciary.
This form should not be used if the decision or determination of the Māori Land Court is an interim or preliminary decision in which there remain outstanding matters for the Court to address.

That written notice must be filed in the Māori Land Court not later than 18 February 2026 If no notice is filed by the date set out above, the Court may confirm the alienation of the land by way of sale.
