3. This practice note applies to the use of the Special Aid Fund by the Māori Land Court and
the Māori Appellate Court (Court).

This package forms part of the funding towards the recovery for whenua Māori owners affected by Cyclone Gabrielle. The funding is for clean-up of sediment & debris, where mahi has already been completed (either byowners or by contractors) and for any similar mahi to be completed in the future.
Some people become landowners when a whānau member transfers land to them by gift or sale. The Maori Land Court will ‘vest’ the land interest by way of a vesting order.
