SHARES HELD IN A PŪTEA OR WHĀNAU TRUST If Māori incorporation shares are held in a pūtea or whānau trust, the names of the trustees16 can be entered on the share register as the owner of those shares.

If any family members don’t consent, their interests must not be included, and they’ll receive their shares personally. Where a family member isn’t included and doesn’t contribute shares to the trust, it’s important the whānau trust order doesn’t inadvertently include that person as a beneficiary.
