Succession order
To legally transfer the land interests of a deceased person to
successors, the MLC issues a succession order⁶.
A retention and disposal report does not mean that all records over 25 years old will
automatically be transferred, nor has any decision of the transfer of records of the Court
been made.

You can calculate whether you have enough shares by dividing the area of the whole block with the total number of shares in the block to work out what area of land each share relates to.
Similarly, partition of land, ie cutting it up into smaller parcels, has become particularly difficult and happens rarely.
Shares in Māori freehold land are rarely transferred.
