Due to social distancing restrictions, only skeleton staff returned to the registries. Fortunately, as Level 3 unfolded, more technological resources became available for Māori Land Court staff to enable them to work from home.
In attendance were iwi leaders, Her Worship the Mayor of Gisborne, Rehette Stoltz, Ministry of Justice and Te Puni Kōkiri officials, and former and current staff. The office is spread over three floors with reception and research facilities on the ground level, Te Rā Tau, mediation and meeting rooms and staff office space on Level 1, Te Rā Pae, and the courthouse and the judicial chambers on Level 2.
This renewed focus has resulted in the recruitment of additional staff dedicated to the SILNA work within the Te Waipounamu team.

In February 2016 the coram for a sitting of the Māori Appellate Court was, for the first time, made up of Māori women judges, and women registry staff. To celebrate this significant occasion a special evening event was organised where women judges of the Māori Land Court and the District Court talked to Māori women practitioners about their career paths and how they became judges.
