in an owner or a person entitled to succeed to an owner for the purpose of a house site or to confirm an existing house
site (including a house that has already been built and is located on the land).
However, the reality was that some of our Māori Land Court staff were ill-equipped to do this due to both a lack of resources, and a lack of access to court records.
At the time, Ngāi Tahu recommended that 200,000 acres ofland would be sufficient compensation for the land that was taken and the promise not fulfilled.
