The court order
The court order is the document that confirms the legal change made to the ownership and/or status of the whenua. The court order also informs the information we provide to Toitū TeWhenua Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) to ensure the changes in legal ownership are updated in their database.

Māori Act 1993 (‘the Act’).
Title reconstruction and improvement
Title1 reconstruction and improvement is covered by Part 14
of the Act.
However, it was in major conflict with the traditional ways of land occupation and guardianship for tangata whenua. In 1993, the Te TureWhenua Māori Act was introduced with the purpose of preventing the loss of any more Māori land – which currently makes up approximately 6% of all land in Aotearoa New Zealand.
