Māori incorporations
Whenua owned by several people can be administered through a Māori incorporation, which becomes the legal owner of the land and assets vested in it. The landowners become shareholders, and own shares in the incorporation rather than in an individual land block.
It was because of you that I became involved in the initiative of Te Kura Rōia and formed close bonds with colleagues that shared similar visions, and who have come here today.
These regulations only apply to Māori land blocks that do not have existing trustees or which are not vested in a Māori incorporation. Other acts and legislation
We hear applications relating to Māori freehold land under select Acts, or parts of them, including:
Property Law Act 2007
Family Protection Act 1955
Government Roading Powers Act 1989
Law Reform (Testamentary Promises) Act 1949
Local Government Act 1974.
