Registrar in Wellington, received up to the pānui closing date of 13th of May 2026, are hereby notified,
pursuant to rules 3.18, 5.3 and 8.2(3) of the Māori Land Court Rules 2011, as being outstanding and
have yet to be determined or set down for inquiry or...
That was not the case and Māori in the South Island were left without land and without sufficient resources to take care of themselves and their whānau.
These rules ensure that the Act’s intent is met – to promote
the retention of Māori land in the hands of its owners and
their whānau and hapū6 and to facilitate the occupation,
development and utilisation of that land for the benefit of its
owners and their whānau and hapū.
