Succession to Māori land interests can be complex for whānau and for whāngai, and Māori land is often owned by members of different whānau (with different views on whāngai succession).

The Maori Land Court will ‘vest’ the land interest by way of a vesting order. This occurs most commonly between close whānau members.

Once again, some of the larger, more sophisticated trusts have included in their trust orders reference to the specific newspapers that are to be used for notice purposes and the frequency with which the notice must run as well as reference to iwi radio and tribal newspapers for example.
