A mediator will be there to support everyone, including you and your whānau, and to provide an impartial view when addressing issues. The hope is that you can come to a decision about how to move forward without legal involvement.
You can apply from anywhere at any time, using a computer, laptop, tablet, or smart phone. When you register in Pātaka Whenua and create a profile you can begin an application, save your progress, and come back to it later.
Access to Māori land was generally considered when the title of the land was originally issued and in many cases:
a roadway would have been created to give access to the land
there may have already been a public or private roadway servicing the land, or
a right of way to access land, across a neighbouring property, may have been put in place.
