During the holiday period, Māori Land Court offices will be closed from 3pm, Wednesday 24 December 2025 and will reopen 10am, Monday 5 January 2026.

Disputes can delay whānau connecting to and using whenua. Parties in a dispute can work with a mediator and include tikanga as a way to resolve the dispute outside of the courtroom.
The court order
The court order is the document that confirms the legal change made to the ownership and/or status of the whenua. The court order also informs the information we provide to Toitū Te Whenua Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) to ensure the changes in legal ownership are updated in their database.
