The time and travel costs associated with attending a court
sitting are removed when an application can be decided by a
registrar.
This approach also supports the efficient running of the Māori
Land Court.

Some people become landowners when a whānau member transfers land to them by gift or sale. The Maori Land Court will ‘vest’ the land interest by way of a vesting order.
This may mean connecting with other agencies and exploring funding opportunities that can help you and your whānau reach your aspirations for your whenua.
For example, you may need to provide your bank account details and an IRD number. Mēnā kāore koe i te whakaae ki te putanga
If you disagree with the outcome
If you don’t agree with a decision made by the Māori Land Court, you can consider appealing the outcome of your application.
It would be interesting to see the response if our Māori Land Court required the parties’ written submissions in upcoming cases to be uploaded to the Māori land Court website prior to hearings.
Further information can be obtained from the Māori Land Court on (06) 3490770 or at 74 Ingestre Street, Whanganui 4500 (please quote reference AP-20250000015341)
