Māori Land Update –
Ngā Āhuatanga o te whenua
May 2023 | Haratua 2023
This update is issued by the Office of the Chief Registrar, Māori Land Court | Te Kooti Whenua Māori
as part of the ongoing efforts to help inform and assist owners, organisations and government
agencies about the characteristics of Māori Customary and Māori Freehold Land.
To create a trust, you'll need to apply for a trust order. Once an order is granted by the Court, thetrust continues until the landowners, beneficiaries, trustees, and the Court agree to end it.
Since the establishment of the Native land Court 1865, we have collected and managed over 23 million documents, all of which are linked in some way to whenua and whānau Māori.
