He was then appointed as Chief Judge of the Court on 13 August 2009, and sworn in at a ceremony at Pakirikiri Marae in Tokomaru Bay on 11 September that year. Chief Judge Isaac was also appointed as the Chairperson of the Waitangi Tribunal in 2009, and holds a warrant as a Judge of the Niue High Court and the Land Division of the Cook Islands High Court.
