The purpose of the National Pänui / Te Pänui ä Motu is
to provide notice to interested parties of hearings being
conducted in, and applications received by, the Mäori Land
Court.
Importantly, not only are our Courts are being asked to recognise tikanga (Māori customary values and
laws), but we as judges are being asked to apply tikanga as part of our common law.
Final resolution
That an application be filed with the Māori Land Court to constitute the [name of whānau
trust], appoint [list the full names of the elected trustees] as trustees and approve the draft
trust order.
