Māori women judges have agreed to work with a group of Māori women lawyers to provide networking and mentoring support, so as to encourage young Māori women lawyers to take their careers as far as possible. The aim is to redress the disproportionately small number of Māori women in high positions in the legal profession.
About Te Kura Kaiwhakawā Te Kura Kaiwhakawā is a judge-led organisation that provides judicial education and professional development for the judiciary throughout their careers. It supports continuous learning through courses, seminars, and resources such as bench books.
A proud graduate of the University of Otago Judge Mullins began her legal career at the Ngai Tahu Māori Law Centre in Dunedin.
This seemed to be an invitation for personal reflection on my career and aspirations for our people, so that is how I have approached my task this morning.
This is also a return to the Court and Tribunal for Judge Milner, who worked early in his career as a Research Counsel for the Māori Land Court and as an Assistant Registrar for the Waitangi Tribunal.
Prior to joining the Ministry of Justice she held a number of leadership and management positions with Careers New Zealand, covering similar regions and including Taranaki.

To my Māori language, if I am to be completely honest, it was not only my law degree or the experiences I gained in my legal career that led me here today, it was because of you that I now have a position amongst the Māori Land Court judiciary.
