The purpose of the National Pänui / Te Pänui ä Motu is
to provide notice to interested parties of hearings being
conducted in, and applications received by, the MäoriLand
Court.
If the borrower defaults the lender is entitled to remove the house from the land. Currently Housing New Zealand provides financing along similar lines through the kāinga whenua scheme.
Information about whenua is generally held by the district office that is located closest to that land block. You can visit one of our offices to view:
current and historic ownership lists for whenua Māori
minutes of hearings of Court and Registrar decisions
current and historic memorial schedule information recording leases, occupations and other land uses
orders made by the court or a Registrar – including:
title orders (creating Māoriland)
trust order...
