Te Kooti Whenua Māori – Māori Land Court (MLC) is the
New Zealand Court that hears matters relating to Māori
land.
If requested by the family, the MLC can direct
that money held be used to pay for such things as funeral
expenses.
Selling Māori land to pay debts
The Act doesn’t allow estate trustees to sell Māori land to pay
the deceased’s debts.
Note: The power of a Registrar or Judge to waive (remit), reduce, or refund a fee is a discretionary one, and you must demonstrate that you are unable to, or
ought not be required to, pay the required fee.

WHAT IS THIS FORM FOR?
If you file an application to the Māori Land Court or the Māori Appellate Court on or after 1 July 2025 , you will notice an increase in the fee you need to pay.
For example:
Our $22 fee will increase to $23
Our $66 fee will increase to $68
Our $220 fee will increase to $228
Our $385 fee will increase to $399
