The MLC operates under the provisions of Te Ture Whenua Māori Act 1993 (‘the Act’). Trustees1 are bound by Te Ture Whenua Māori Act and the Trusts Act 2019.

While the Trust Land and Trust Property is to be held and used for the benefit of the Beneficial Owners, the Beneficial Owners are not the legal owners and they have no right (legal or otherwise) to instruct the Trustees how to manage and deal with Trust Land and Trust Property.
