Search for a block

This guide covers two ways to search for a block in the Pātaka Whenua online portal:
• using the Search menu to find a block (page 2),
• locating it visually with the Block Map (page 4).

You can search the database using the following categories:
• Block
• Document
• Management Structure
• Ownership
Search byBlock
You can use the blocksearch option if you know either the block name, block ID, district, land status type, state, LINZ
title reference, or a combination of the options.

After logging into Pātaka Whenua as a registered user, use the menu on the left side of the screen
to click “Search”.

You can use the ownership search option if you know either the owner name, owner ID, block
name, block ID, block district, ownership category, ownership type, or a combination of these.
CERTIFICATE OF TITLE
Now known as a 'Record of Title', it is an official
record for a block of land that has been clearly
defined by a full survey and for which a title has
issued by Toitū Te Whenua Land Information
New Zealand (LINZ).
