Ahu Whenuatrust
An ahu whenuatrust enables collective guardianship of one or more land blocks on behalf of landowners.
Trustees may act by
majority pursuant to section 227 of the Act.
1.11 Each Trustee must use reasonable endeavours to:
(a) provide each ahu whenuatrust or Māori incorporation in which the Trust holds
interests with current contact details for the Trust; and
(b) procure that any dividends or other benefits to which the Trust is entitled from
each ahu whenuatrust or Māori incorporation in which the Trust holds interests
are pai...
The exception, of course, is the election of their representative on the ahu whenuatrust before its inaugural AGM. Accordingly, whilst all the beneficiaries of the respective whānau trusts are also beneficiaries of the ahu whenuatrust, there is no election of trustees at an ahu whenuatrust AGM.
