As a result of those laws, tangata whenua were granted individual ownership of specific parcels of land or ‘interests’ in that whenua. Traditional whenua boundaries of hapū and whānau were changed and not all members were granted ownership.

Recently we completed the �rst Māori Land Court User Survey. In it, we asked about your overall experience, how
easy it is to apply using paper application forms or through Pātaka Whenua, the court hearing process and the court
minutes and orders.
The court order also informs the information we provide to Toitū Te Whenua Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) to ensure the changesin legal ownership are updated in their database.
The Jury Trial Protocol and Jury Trial Guidelines have been modified to take account
of the Government’s decision, and in light of this public health advice.
To support these changes, the Ministry of Justice is updating its advice to those who
are summoned for jury duty.
