The purpose ofthe National Pänui / Te Pänui ä Motu is
to provide notice to interested parties of hearings being
conducted in, and applications received by, the Mäori Land
Court.
A further complication is that section 338(12) provides that the trustees of a Māori reservation may, with the consent ofthe Court, grant a lease or occupation licence of a reservation for a term not exceeding 14 years (including any term or termsof renewal).
If the problems cannot be resolved, the landowners
can apply to the Māori Land Court to:
• review theterms, operation, or other aspect ofthetrust
• add, replace, or remove trustees
• investigate thetrust
• enforce thetermsofthetrust
• vary thetermsofthetrust
• terminate thetrust.

Where the title to the land is vested in a Māori land trust (e.g. an Ahu Whenua Trust or a
