Can a mortgage be registered against the leasehold estate of whenua Māori? How does a mortgagee exercise power of mortgagee sale in relation to whenua Māori?
You can calculate whether you have enough shares by dividing the area of the whole block with the total number of shares in the block to work out what area of land each share relates to.
Freehold titles are often divided by partition order. The status of the land will continue to be Māori land unless and until the Māori Land Court makes an order changing the status of the land.
