Māori reserves are lands administered by the Māori Trustee under the Māori Reserved Land Act 1955.

The trust will operate according to the Māori Reservations Regulations 1994 . If the Reservation is for a Marae, a Charter document will be required and can be discussed similar to a terms of a trust
Any final terms of trust are subject to confirmation by the Māori Land Court in accordance with sections 214 or 244 of Te Ture Whenua Māori Act 1993. 5.
If the Trust includes Māori community purposes, Trust income may be used to give effect to these Māori community purposes.
