The Māori Land Court is New Zealand’s oldest and longest established specialist court.

The judiciary and the staff of the seven Māori Land Court registries have been working hard to move through the backlog of cases before the Court, there have been new judicial appointments and a host of activity has been undertaken to improve the service provided to Māori landowners.

Once the mortgage has been noted by the Registrar, or a certificate confirming the mortgage has been issued, your solicitor can register the mortgage against the title to the land with Land Information New Zealand in the same way that a mortgage would be registered against General land.
